My name is Jaime Fullerton, and I am entering my second year as a full-time swim coach for New Wave Swim Team, and a graduate student at Clemson University studying Fisheries and Wildlife Resources. I have also begun coaching/swimming for a USA Master's swim program as well. I graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University in May 2020 with a B.S in Environmental Science. I swam for New Wave Swim Team, Apex Breakers and Apex High School growing up, and went on to swim for Lenoir-Rhyne all four years. I swam for the Apex Breakers from 2012-17, and coached for the breakers in '16, '17, '18. In 2019 I took the summer off to study abroad in North Queensland, Australia, and am excited to return as the Apex Breaker's head coach despite our cancelled 2020 season. I have a deep rooted passion for coaching which began with the Apex Breakers many years ago, and am looking forward to sharing the spirit of the Apex Breakers with you all this summer!
Jason is so excited to return as an assistant coach with the Breakers! Jason has a long history in the sport of swimming including collegiate swimming at the university of Delaware. He has a wealth of coaching experience from being an assistant coach with YOTA to an assistant and head coach for the Breakers since 1999. He is a passionate coach that loves to encourage all levels of swimmers to bring out their confidence and a sense of self accomplishment.
Hello! I was a member of the Apex Breakers for about 10 years in the late 1970’s through the late 1980’s! I remember when “Breakers” was added to the name. I can tell you the story if you would like, just ask me! I also remember the first time we were TSA season champions when I was in the 13-14 age group. Being on the team launched a lifetime love of swimming for me. I swam for Raleigh Y (now YOTA) and RSA for several years and then competed in US Masters Swimming meets in my early 20’s, earning state and national awards/rankings. I’ve had the pleasure of coaching various teams through the years including being the head coach for Saint Mary’s School Varsity Team and Pullen Aquatic Center’s summer team, and an assistant coach for YOTA and WAVE. I earned a level one coach certification through the American Swim Coaches Association. I have also coached privately for adult scuba classes and Ironman triathletes. In recent years, I have started competing in open water events and have swam races in Bermuda, St. Croix, Grenada and Grand Cayman. During the year, I teach AP Environmental Science and Earth Science at Vernon Malone College & Career Academy…one of WCPSS’s early colleges (check it out!). I also enjoy hiking and playing with my two labs, Rio and Bindi. I am looking forward to giving back and working with the team this summer!
Hey Breaker Family! I'm Trey Harloff, a rising senior at Wilkes University in Pennsylvania where I am currently swimming and pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. This will be my 16th year with the Breakers, and my 9th year of coaching. I look forward to the summer swimming season every year because of the fun and exciting environment, and because of the family-oriented aspect of our swim team. I enjoy sharing my passion for the sport with kids of all ages, and getting involved and staying active on the pool deck- this includes cheering, kid-catching, gathering kids in preparation for their races, and so much more! I’m so excited for another amazing swim season with THE swim team that has been my family for so long. LETS GO BREAKERS!!!
